Laser hair reduction in Lucknow
Long-term reduction of unwanted hair on the face and body over a course of sessions.
MCh Plastic Surgery (KGMU) · MCI Reg. No. UPMC 536864.9 from 324 Google reviews
Laser hair reduction uses light energy to target hair follicles and reduce regrowth. It is used on the face, underarms, arms, legs, back and chest.
Because hair grows in cycles, a course of sessions is needed. Your skin and hair type are assessed first to set the treatment safely.

What to expect
- Sessions of 20–60 minutes, depending on the area
- Usually 6–8 sessions, 4–6 weeks apart
- A warm, snapping sensation; a cooling or numbing cream can be used
- Mild redness for a few hours; avoid sun exposure between sessions
Before each session
- Shave the area the day before
- Do not wax, pluck or thread for about 4 weeks beforehand, so the root is there for the laser to reach
- Keep the area out of the sun and avoid tanning
- Tell us about any medicines that make your skin sensitive to light
Is it right for me?
The laser targets the pigment in hair, so it works best on dark hair. Grey, white, blonde and red hair respond poorly. On darker skin the settings are adjusted to protect the skin. Treatment is not given during pregnancy, on tanned skin, or over a skin infection.
Risks
Redness and swelling for a few hours. Less often, blistering, a burn, or lighter or darker patches of skin, which are more likely on tanned or darker skin and usually fade. Rarely, more hair grows near the treated area.

Questions about laser hair reduction
Is laser hair reduction permanent?
It gives a long-term reduction in hair. Some fine regrowth is possible, and occasional maintenance sessions may be needed.
Is it safe for Indian skin?
Yes, with the right laser settings. Darker skin needs gentler settings, so your skin type is assessed first and a patch test is usually done.
How should I prepare?
Shave the day before, avoid waxing or plucking for about 4 weeks, and keep the area out of the sun.
